We understand how meaningful it is to have a peaceful, special place to remember loved ones, and we’re truly honoured that people feel a connection to our memorial garden.

We kindly ask that, before any ashes are laid within the garden, permission is sought from the Aber Valley Heritage Group and its trustees.

This is because cremated ashes can have a strong impact on the natural environment. They often contain high levels of salts and minerals, which can alter the soil balance and harm delicate plants particularly heathers and other species that thrive in our garden. Without care, this can lead to damage or loss of planting that has taken many years to establish.

Where permission is given, we ask that ashes are mixed with at least two bags of soil before being placed in the ground. This helps to dilute their concentration and protect the surrounding plants and wildlife.

We hope you understand that these steps are in place to preserve the beauty and health of the garden for everyone, now and in the future.
