Most of you would know that the Welsh National and Universal Mining Memorial Garden has been closed for the last month. Great news. It is now open! The closure was because of urgent repairs needed to parts of the stonework. Aber Valley Heritage Group would like to thank the team from CADW based at Caerphilly Castle, who stepped in, with free assistance and invaluable expertise, and re-rendered the plinth of our Statue and wall. They have also replaced some coping stones that had deteriorated as well as repairing the steps and pavings – all within the time they stated. They told us they were only too pleased to help and they found the work heartwarming as so many people visited whilst they were there and related to them their family’s stories.  Thank you once again CADW.
