Group visits Nantgarw Collections Centre

Members of Aber Valley Heritage Group visited the Museum Storage Facilities at Nantgarw on Monday. Our guide was Ceri Thompson, Curator of The Big Pit! The first item he was saving for us was brought out from their safe is the recently repaired and conserved horses hoof. The horse was called “Kildare” and was killed in the 1913 Universal Colliery Disaster. The Museum is hoping to be able to have it on display for a short period on the near future.

We all enjoyed the visit. Look out for details!

The Storage Facilities will be opening for visitors during the school holidays. Check their website for details: https://museum.wales/collections-centre/
